New Release Tuesday: November 1

New Release Tuesday: November 1

I said this last week, too, but I really can’t believe November is here already! Where does the time go? It’s getting chilly outside- perfect weather for curling up on the sofa with a good book and a steamy cup of hot chocolate. Sounds cozy, right?

As always, this Tuesday brings a host of great new books, including some to get you in the holiday spirit!

Mozart’s Last Aria is one that initially drew my attention because the cover is so striking and pretty. I don’t know where she’s going, but I want to follow and find out! The description sounds really good, too, so this is one that will be moving to the top of my To Be Read Pile.

Why I Love New Release Tuesdays

Why I Love New Release Tuesdays

What is your all-time favorite book?

By now you all know that I adore Tuesdays, it really is my favorite day of the week! Each Sunday afternoon, as I pre-load new releases to the website, I browse through the new titles, read the book descriptions and get so excited about what’s coming on Tuesday- it’s like whole new worlds of adventure await. I can’t wait each week to share these new adventures with all of you!

And while all those new stories are exciting, sometimes you come across an old favorite in the new releases list that just makes you smile. Maybe it’s updated with a new cover, a new introduction by the author or has a sneak peek of the author’s next book, but whatever has been added, the original story that first captured your heart doesn’t change at all.

Book Review: In Total Surrender by Anne Mallory

Book Review: In Total Surrender by Anne Mallory

Most of the time, when reading romance novels, we read most of the story from the heroine’s perspective. In Total Surrender started from our hero’s perspective and stayed with him for quite a while. It was a nice change for me and Andreas makes a great hero. He’s rough around the edges and hides his true self from others, but when reading the story from his perspective, we get unlimited access to the “real” Andreas, and he’s quite wonderful, in a bad boy sort of way.

Do you ever read romances where the heroine is described as smart or clever and then she proceeds to make the most ridiculous decisions which result in the need for rescuing? Phoebe isn’t like that at all. In fact, I do believe she is the one doing the rescuing in this romance.

Thriller Thursday: No Rest For The Dead, Edited by Andrew and Lamia Gulli

It’s time for another installment of Thriller Thursday!

This one was really exciting for me – No Rest For The Dead was written by twenty-six amazing mystery and thriller authors including Sandra Brown, RL Stine, Jeffery Deaver, Michael Palmer, Kathy Reichs and more. Twenty-Six! As excited as I was for what promised to be a great mystery, I was even more excited to see how all these author’s writing styles would blend together into one cohesive story. Would it be seamless or would it be disjointed? The only way to find out was to dive right in.

Who are your favorite mystery writers?

Are You Emotionally Connected When You Read?

Are You Emotionally Connected When You Read?

A few months ago, New York Times best selling author Susan Mallery asked her followers on Twitter to name the last book they read that made them cry. Thinking about my answer to that question, I was a little surprised to realize it has been nearly seven years since I cried over a book.

So that got me wondering, why do you choose to read certain books? What motivates you to pick up one book over another? And do you feel an emotional response is critical for you to consider a book to be great?
