Review: Enemy of the State by Kyle Mills

After 9/11, the United States made one of the most secretive and dangerous deals in its history. The evidence against the powerful Saudis who coordinated the attack would be buried. In return, King Faisal would promise to keep the oil flowing and deal with the conspirators in his midst.

When the king’s own nephew is discovered funding ISIS, the president suspects that the Saudis never intended to live up to their agreement. He decides that the royalty needs to be sent a message and that Mitch Rapp is just the man to deliver it. The catch? America can’t be seen moving against an ally. Rapp will be on his own. Forced to make a decision that will change his life forever, Rapp quits the CIA and assembles a group of independent contractors to help him complete the mission.

In the next thrilling novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling Mitch Rapp series, the anti-terrorism operative heads to Pakistan to confront a mortal threat he may not be prepared for. In fact, this time he might have met his match.

But in this follow-up to #1 New York Times bestselling The Survivor, the CIA operative finds himself chasing false leads from continent to continent in an effort to keep Pakistani nukes from falling into the hands of terrorists. Mitch Rapp is back!

The last two Rapp Series books went back in time to show us how Mitch Rapp became the meanest, toughest, baddest CIA Counter-terrorist Operative ever. American Assassin set the stage and showed us the whole selection and training process and gave us just the right amounts of insight into his psyche. The second prequel, Kill Shot, was a great action thriller and showed us more about Rapp’s development history.

With The Last Man, we are back to a modern-day setting in Afghanistan, where a CIA agent has gone missing.

Thriller Thursday: American Assassin by Vince Flynn

Anyone who knows me well knows that I have a particular affection for thrillers. And I can think of no better way to share my favorites with you than with a Thriller Thursday post!

For several years now, I’ve eagerly anticipated the release of each new book in Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp series. Mitch Rapp is an All-American guy who just happens to know over a thousand different ways to kick some serious behind. And he puts his skills to good use by fiercely protecting the U.S.A. He has travelled all over the world uncovering and stopping nefarious plots that the public will never know about and he does it with brutal efficiency. Rapp is definitely the guy you want on your side when the fighting starts!

A gifted college athlete, Mitch Rapp was recruited by the CIA after his college sweetheart was killed in the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. And he only wanted one thing: Retribution.
